Let’s make sure everybody can hear you guys good.

It was a pleasure to watch you, a real, a real pleasure to watch you this tournament.

Kevin Burkhardt:
Just take me through the emotion at the end,
when you’re facing your teammate Mike Trout.
You get them out.
You strike them out.
Tell me what you were feeling at that time.

水原一平:
ずっと翔平のことを見てて楽しかったですけど、
最後の時、三振を取った打席はどういう感じだったでしょうか。

大谷翔平:
最後の最後で、対戦すると思わなかったんで。
ちょうど来るかなとは思っていましたけど。
まさか最後の最後になるとは思わなかったです。

Ippei Mizuhara:
I was not expecting him to be like literally the last battle of the game.
I thought it was a possibility.
But I can’t believe that he was actually the last batter of the game.

Kevin Burkhardt:
Ohtani congrats. Thank you.

Alex Rodriguez:
My question to you is I love what you’ve done obviously superhero stuff out here.

Alex Rodriguez:
But I’m most impressed with the speech that you gave your teammates about how you revere major league baseball players.
Can you tell us a little bit about that?

水原一平:
すごい、彼も翔平のことを尊敬しているんですけど、
試合前のスピーチにすごい感動してるんですけど、
メジャーの選手を畏れるな、というスピーチ。
それについて、何かありますか。

大谷翔平:
そうですね。
もう本当に野球をやっていれば、誰もが知っているというか。
一度は耳にしたことのある選手たちが１番から９番まで。
また、ベンチの選手もそうですし。

大谷翔平:
本当に素晴らしい選手たちが並んでいるので。
何も考えないとやっぱり、
あ、マイク・トラウトだ、
とか。

大谷翔平:
やっぱり、こう、
リスペクトの気持ちが受け身の形になってしまうので、
まあ、そこだけ、本当に、こう、
負けないんだという気持ちを持っていきたいなと思いました。

Ippei Mizuhara:
Obviously, US line up one through nine they’re all household names superstars.
And all the Japanese guys know them.

Ippei Mizuhara:
But he didn’t want the guys to be passive just show respect.
But at the same time, don’t be passive, say aggressive, say confident is always.
Why I gave that speech.

David Ortiz:
Ohtani, congratulations, buddy.
You’ve been playing with Mike Trout for the past couple of years now.
You guys are brothers now.
Why you gotta get so nasty on him.

水原一平:
トラウト選手と何年もやっている兄弟のような関係でめちゃくちゃ仲がいいと思うんですけど。
なんであんなエグい球を投げたんですか。

大谷翔平:
正直、誰よりも、彼の凄さというか。
本当に、ネクストから毎年のように見てますし。
チームメイトが一番彼の凄さというのを、人間性を含めて、どれだけ素晴らしいかを分かっていると思うので。

大谷翔平:
本当に、自分のベストを超えるような球を投げないと、なかなか抑えられないバッターじゃないかなと思って。
そういう気持ちで行きました。

Ippei Mizuhara:
Yes. I mean.
I played with him for several years now.
And I’ve seen him in the most I hit next to him in the lineup.

Ippei Mizuhara:
And I’ve the one that probably knows how great he is not just as a person but as a baseball player.
So I had to give my best and my 120% to be able to get them out.

Kevin Burkhardt:
Shohei, what does this mean for the people back in Japan?

水原一平:
日本で見ている皆さんにはどういう意味を持ちますか、この勝利は。

大谷翔平:
本当に、選手もそうなんですけど、
本当に僕らはアメリカの野球をリスペクトしていますし。
彼らの野球というのを見本にして頑張ってきたと思うので。

大谷翔平:
今日はたまたま勝ちましたけど。
これからもっともっと高いところを目指して、
もっともっと頑張っていきたいと思います。

Ippei Mizuhara:
Yeah, Japanese baseball.
Japanese kids who have played baseball in Japan.
They always looked up to American baseball big leagues.

Ippei Mizuhara:
So this time we were able to win.
But not saying we’re better than the US or anything.
But I think we got a little closer.
And I think all people in Japan feel that.

Alex Rodriguez:
Shohei, how does this moment compare in your career?
Is this the best moment in your career so far?

水原一平:
キャリアの数々の、輝かしい栄光の中で、ここはどれぐらいのランクインしますか。

大谷翔平:
今のところトップじゃないかなとは思いますし、
本当に、このシチュエーションで投げるというのはなかなかあることではないと思うので。
緊張しましたけど。

大谷翔平:
本当に、感謝の方が大きかったなと。
この大きな舞台で投げれて、本当に、感謝しかないなと思います。

Ippei Mizuhara:
It’s definitely probably number one.
It’d got to be up there.
Like you said, it was like a storybook ending.

Ippei Mizuhara:
Storybook situation more than anything else.
I really appreciate this whole tournament,
this whole situation, this whole atmosphere.

David Ortiz:
Right.
On a serious note.
What planet are you from?

水原一平:
ちょっと真剣な質問をしたいのですけど。
どの惑星から生まれたんですか。

大谷翔平:
もう本当に日本の、田舎というかね、
本当に、あんまり、こう、
チームも少ないような所でやってたんでね。

大谷翔平:
日本の人たちからしても、
頑張ればこういう所でできるんだ
というのは本当に良かったんじゃないかなと思います。

Ippei Mizuhara:
Yeah, um. honestly,
I’m from the countryside of Japan.

Ippei Mizuhara:
Low population.
Not too many baseball teams.
Not too many Little League teams.

Ippei Mizuhara:
But I hope I showed the kids in Japan that no matter where you’re from.
You could make it to the stage if you work hard.

Alex Rodriguez:
Hey, one fun question for Ohtani.
Growing up in Japan,
who were some of the players in America that you admired and looked up to?

水原一平:
日本時代、アメリカの野球、メジャーリーガーを見てて、すごい憧れた選手とか参考にした選手は誰だったでしょうか。

大谷翔平:
もう、この２人もそうですし。
今日いたケン・グリフィー・ジュニアもそうですけど。
いろんな選手。
大勢いた選手。
僕が小さい頃に見ているような選手たちが同じフィールドに立って。

大谷翔平:
今こうやってインタビューを受けているのも、
ちょっと正直信じられない感覚ではあるので。
もっともっと自分がそういう立場になれるように頑張りたいなと思っています。

Ippei Mizuhara:
It’d got to be Mr. A-Rod, Mr. Big Papi, Ken Griffey Jr.
I mean, always watch, watch you guys, growing up.

David Ortiz:
Hehe!
